From Naughty Dog that brings you Uncharted series, comes the next installment for the current gen system. Being one of the game that being produce before the coming of the next generation consoles, The Last Of Us (TLOU) certainly do not dissapoint. Not just any typical survival game, TLOU challenges the players on how to live, survive and adapt in the post-outbreak environment. You takes control of Joel who is trekking across a post-apocalyptic United States in 2033, in order to escort the young Ellie to a resistance group, the Fireflies, who believe Ellie may be the key to curing an infection that has ravaged the world.
You are given many types of weapon at your disposal ranging from melee weapon to firearms all have their advantages and disadvantages depending on situation. However do not be 'trigger-happy' on your weapons as the ammos are very limited and you have to used your brains and guts when dealing with the enemies. Enemies ranging from zombie-like creatures infected by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus, as well as hostile humans such as bandits and cannibals. These enemies will not go very easy on you and they will attack immediately after spotting you. You must be able to defend or end up dead in the sewers.
What is interesting about this game is that you get the feel the actual feeling of the post-apocalyptic outbreak. After 20 years, the effects are quite devastating and makes you wonder the world and the life of people during this trouble times. Joel is a strong character and will stop at nothing to protect Ellie. Ellie in the meanwhile is a young girl who was born during the time of the outbreak and quite a suprise to me that she getting excited about the arcade machine which in our times is common but alienated to her.
On the other hand, the multiplayer is actually quite enjoyable and it gets me glued for a while to enjoy the game. However the single player campaign itself is already enjoyable enough for you to experience and if you have the time to go for multiplayer mode, be my guest.
There are good times and bad times in everything and TLOU is no exception. Poor AI especially during stealth, is giving me frustration as I have to face death countless times because when you doing stealth, the character that supposed to follow you tend to give away your position. Furthermore, the enemy also sometimes do not spot you when you are actually IN FRONT OF THEM!!! Less realism and some glitches.
-great gameplay
-real environment
-good combat and simple inventory system
-enjoyable multiplayer
Thumbs DOWN
-Poor AI
-Some glitches affecting gameplay
