Aizio's 101: Affleck is The Batman: Man Of Steel 2. My thoughts

Well, well, well. It's been quite busy these days with so many news and updates from around the world. As the consoles war are getting very intense day by day, recently there is one particular news that causing quite a stir with raging and ranting all over the internet. Yap, you've heard it right. The new cast for the Batman in the Man of Steel sequel had been announced and suprisingly it was BEN AFFLECK!

Yap! It's him!
Hahaha oh boy the world are getting crazy! Seriously guyz?? Affleck as THE BATMAN? Can you imagine? The moment I heard the news I thought somebody or someone out there are making jokes. And it turns out that it's the TRUTH! Ben Affleck had been confirmed to play as Batman along side Henry Cavill in the Man of Steel sequel and I think this is the most shocking and suprised news for me so far.

Affleck is a great actor but for a moment I think there is more suitable candidate for the role. You all have your own preferences for the role and it's still too early to say because there is so much we do not know yet regarding the sequel. The way I see it, I still cannot potrayed him as Bruce Wayne/Batman because everytime I tried to do it all i could see is Ben Affleck in the costumes but not Bruce Wayne as Batman.

As of now I'm currently observing the situation. Let us be reasonable and mature here. Do not press the panic button yet and getting all emotional about it. Let Affleck proves to us that he is capable of wearing the dark knight cape. Come on, Mr. Affleck. Proved us wrong!

The Last Of Us: Aizio's Verdict

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Developer: Naughty Dog
Genre: Action Survival
 Platform: PS3

From Naughty Dog that brings you Uncharted series, comes the next installment for the current gen system. Being one of the game that being produce before the coming of the next generation consoles, The Last Of Us (TLOU) certainly do not dissapoint. Not just any typical survival game, TLOU challenges the players on how to live, survive and adapt in the post-outbreak environment. You takes control of Joel who is trekking across a post-apocalyptic United States in 2033, in order to escort the young Ellie to a resistance group, the Fireflies, who believe Ellie may be the key to curing an infection that has ravaged the world.

You are given many types of weapon at your disposal ranging from melee weapon to firearms all have their advantages and disadvantages depending on situation. However do not be 'trigger-happy' on your weapons as the ammos are very limited and you have to used your brains and guts when dealing with the enemies. Enemies ranging from zombie-like creatures infected by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus, as well as hostile humans such as bandits and cannibals. These enemies will not go very easy on you and they will attack immediately after spotting you. You must be able to defend or end up dead in the sewers.

What is interesting about this game is that you get the feel the actual feeling of the post-apocalyptic outbreak. After 20 years, the effects are quite devastating and makes you wonder the world and the life of people during this trouble times. Joel is a strong character and will stop at nothing to protect Ellie. Ellie in the meanwhile is a young girl who was born during the time of the outbreak and quite a suprise to me that she getting excited about the arcade machine which in our times is common but alienated to her.

On the other hand, the multiplayer is actually quite enjoyable and it gets me glued for a while to enjoy the game. However the single player campaign itself is already enjoyable enough for you to experience and if you have the time to go for multiplayer mode, be my guest.

There are good times and bad times in everything and TLOU is no exception. Poor AI especially during stealth, is giving me frustration as I have to face death countless times because when you doing stealth, the character that supposed to follow you tend to give away your position. Furthermore, the enemy also sometimes do not spot you when you are actually IN FRONT OF THEM!!! Less realism and some glitches.

Thumbs UP
-great gameplay
-real environment
-good combat and simple inventory system
-enjoyable multiplayer

Thumbs DOWN
-Poor AI
-Some glitches affecting gameplay

Overall Score:

8/10

Metro Last Light: Aizio's Verdict

Metro Last Light
Publisher: Deep Silver
Developer: 4A Games
Genre: Action FPS
Release: May 17, 2013

Have you ever imagine our earth post-nuclear war and how do people live and survive after the catastrophic event? In Metro Last Light, fighting for ourselves is a path to survival. The environment had been contaminated and the only for you to breathe through air filter and living inside underground metro. Metro: Last Light takes place one year after the events of Metro 2033, proceeding from the canonical ending from the novel, ending where Artyom chose to call down the missile strike on the Dark Ones. The Rangers have since occupied the D6 military facility, with Artyom having become an official Ranger. Khan, the nomad mystic, arrives at D6 to inform Artyom and the Rangers that a single Dark One survived the missile strike. Khan believes the Dark One is the key to humanity's future, and wants to make peace with it, whereas the Ranger's leader, Colonel Miller, wants to kill the creature, ending the threat of the Dark Ones forever. Miller sends Artyom to the surface with a mission to kill the Dark One; he is accompanied by Anna, Miller's sarcastic daughter and the Rangers' best sniper.

What I LIKE:

i) Graphics

Metro Last light gives you awesome graphics and a real experience of post nuclear war. The environment are highly presented in a manner that you feel the effect almost immediately after reaching on the surface. The underground metro is very well presented and looks lively with people doing business such as restaurant and so on.

ii) Gameplay

The gameplay are easy to maneuver and master. Good and non-complicated inventory system makes the game more playable. Surviving is the key here and you have to manage your ammo and weapon very well and wrong step would get you killed especially when confronting monsters and demon. You need careful timing for your action especially on the surface as you'll depend on air filter that is limited (in higher difficulties).

What I DISLIKE:

i) AI

The Human AIs were not very intelligent enough and you can easily overcome or naturaliz them. However, the monsters and demons AIs were good and react very effectively. Confronting them makes your hands sweat as you punching your controller every time in order to kill them.

Overall taught for this game is:

   9/10

Dishonored Aizio's Verdict

DISHONORED
Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
Developer: Arcane Studios
Genre: Action/Stealth

Ever get the feeling you're expendable? Dishonored gives you the experience just that. Set in the fictional industrial city of Dunwall, you played as Corvo Attano, the Empress's legendary bodyguard who is just coming back from a mission to find a cure for the plague that is causing chaos and disturbance in the city. Returning 2 days early from the mission makes him taking the blame for the crime he did not commit. Unfortunately he was at the wrong place, at the wrong time where the conspirators led by High Overseer Campbell trying to overthrow the empress by assasinating her-instead-framing Corvo for her murder. Seeking revenge on those who conspired against him, Corvo was forced to become an assassin and aided by the Loyalists—a resistance group fighting to reclaim Dunwall, and the Outsider—a powerful being who imbues Corvo with magical abilities.

What I LIKE:

 i) Gameplay
Dishonored gives you freedom in gameplay by providing many options in order to achieve your objectives. Dynamic gameplay what gives Dishonored a very enjoyable experience. You can explore the city of Dunwall and discover so many possiblities and ways to your objectives especially in killing your target. There are variety of ways to kill and you can experiment everything by using different types of weapons and abilities.
Every of your action have consequences and this affect the ending of your game. You can have Low Chaos ending (without killing anyone), High Chaos ending (killing spree hehehehe), and special High Chaos ending which I would not spoil to you here.

ii)Abilities
Corvo had special abilities that he can used at his disposal. The abilities such as Blink and Dark Vision always help you when trying to get passed the guards in the city. There is also Possession ablity where you can possess rodents or people, Swarming ability where you can summon infested rats and many more. You have to collect runes that are scatterred around the city for ablity upgrades.

What I DISLIKE:

i) Graphics
The graphics were not as fancy as the games. Cartoonish graphics and environment that looks like water colour brushing were not presented very well. First hour play may affect your mood because you don't feel amazed about the graphics whether characters, environment and even the city itself. I personally want to stop playing this game during my first hour play. It kills your mood to play.

ii) Story
Story is interesting but seems unpolished. You can predict easily where the story goes and the campaign is feel short for a AAA game. You have totally 9 missions to complete and is kind of dissappointing to see the story were not expanded very well as they focused more on gameplay. I know some may disagree with me but I think a good presented story is also important to capture your audience.

iii) Character
The characters are poorly developed in this game. You don't feel attach to your character at all. For each character you don't feel as you should be. As for Corvo, the feeling for him is not deep enough for you to pity him as you should be.

Overall my final verdict for this game is

8/10

GOOD

A good game from Arcane Studios and highly creative and innovative. However they still need to improve in certain areas if they wish to become one of contenders in the gaming industry. For those of you who haven't play or wish to play this game, I highly recommended it and a must own game for you.

Hey guyz. It's been a long time since i updated my blog. It's been a busy weeks and I have so much to do lately so this will be my first entry for the month of July. I'm currently working on the reviews for the games that I played so far. So I've list down all the games that I've played from early 2012 until June 2013 and it's quite a suprise to me that I had been playing and also finishing so many games for the past 2012 and this few couple of months for the year 2013. • Sleeping Dogs
  • Tomb Raider
  • Assassin’s Creed III
  • DmC Devil May Cry
  • Call Of Duty Black Ops 2

  • Mass Effect 3
I know some of you are far more better than I am. Anyway I'll try to do my best to review them and I'm not a game jounalist people. So it may not be very fancy or good written. After all, I'm just giving my opinion as a fan of games. However with all the games that I have, there are several unfinished games that I still play:
  • The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim
  • Far Cry 3
  • Metro Last Light
  • Need For Speed Most Wanted

Aizio's 101: Microsoft U-turn decision. What’s the cache?

Microsoft confirmed changed its restriction policies regarding the Xbox One’s always online connection, used games and region locked features. According to Microsoft blog, “as a result of feedback from the Xbox community, we have changed certain policies for Xbox One.”  and stating the past policies are “no longer accurate.” Xbox boss Don Mattrick said Microsoft "believes in the benefits of a connected, digital future," and thanked gamers for their assistance in helping Microsoft "reshape the future of Xbox One."

This is however, not a surprise for me regarding the decision from Microsoft. It is expected. Meaning now that the Xbox One:

i-  Will NOT require a 24-hour connection to the internet to play games and connection is required ONLY during setting up at a one-time system with a new Xbox One. You can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

ii- Will also NO longer restrict used games, and will instead allow discs to be exchanged in the same way they are on Xbox 360. There will be no additional restrictions for trade-ins or lending games to friends. No limitation to using and sharing games.

iii- Will also NO longer be region locked and all downloaded games will function the same way whether your console is connected or not.

I’ve gave you my reasons on what I don’t like about the Xbox One in my previous post and the U-turn from Microsoft seem to me a little too late and the damage had already been done. Although there are positives responses from most of the Xbox fans, but I think this is somewhat a marketing strategy from Microsoft. I’m not saying that this is bad but there always a cache in everything. Yes, they’ve heard you Xboxers, but why do it now? Since the launch of Xbox One, Microsoft was not truly being honest to you and now they want you back by giving something that you want to hear. Too many uncertainty that raise yet you still trust this kind of people? I doubt they'll make another reverse and I hope they DON’T. I’m not Xbox haters or Sony’s fan boy I’m just being sceptical about it. Bottom line we’ll wait and see whether Microsoft can walk the talk after Xbox One sells this November.

Four reasons why I don't prefer the Xbox One. A post E3 2013 review Pt. 3

Microsoft will sell their next gen consoles, mainly the Xbox One, on November this year and I strongly feel that it will not be very successful sales from their previous consoles, the Xbox 360. I think Microsoft had failed to win the hearts of gamers especially in convincing the gamers as to why they should buy the Xbox One. All the reasons are very obvious and Microsoft mostly will avoid the question when the consumers need that answers. Here's my 4 reasons why I don't prefer and maybe don't even consider the Xbox One:

Reason #1: Xbox One will be region LOCKED

As of today, the decision from Microsoft that their next gen platform will be region locked had mostly break the hearts of Xbox fans. If you live outside the USA, it will be waste to buy and get the consoles because the live TV features will be exclusives ONLY in the United States. If you live outside of the country or overseas, you cannot enjoy all the contents in the Xbox One.

Reason #2: Xbox One must be ALWAYS connected to the internet

This is another feature that I don't like about the Xbox One. You must always stay login and connected in order for you to play and enjoy any contents in the Xbox One for 24 hours. This may not be a big deal for some but it is a big issue for the people who don't have good internet connection. For some developing countries who do not have better internet connection, they will not waste their money in order to buy things that do not benefit them. Microsoft argue they are promoting about the future technology that will required all things to be connected but they can do it periodically over time. Microsoft are digging their own grave.

Reason #3: Xbox One will NOT allowed used games

Microsoft are pissing their fans off with this one. Microsoft were trying to impose digital rights management (DRM) into their games and contents. If you want to get any game titles for Xbox One, you are not allowed to rent, lend or resell games that you buy. You're allowed to exchange the copy of the games once with your friend and Microsoft will only players to transfer Live ID licenses at "participating retailers". Gamers were very upset with the decision because Microsoft were "killing" the gaming industry with the games DRM.

Reason #4: Xbox One will cost you $499 (MYR 1559.10) over $100 than PS4

The price is a turning point in the battle of consoles. Are you willing to spend more is up to you but for me it is not worth it for a consoles that imposed so many restrictions on consumers. When you spending a lot in buying things, it must have worth and beneficial for you. You don't throw away you money without any reason.

That's it for my 3 part post review for E3 2013. The reviews are only my opinion and it doesn't have to be in you favor. You can always browse around the internet for any update regarding any news about gaming industry all around the world. The information may not be all true and you need to investigate further to know the full story.

Xbox One vs PS4 : Making the right decision. A post E3 2013 review Pt 2

Microsoft and Sony had stealed the spotlight of this year E3 with the launched of the next gen consoles mainly Xbox One and PS4. Every year these 2 giant platformers had come out with so many interesting product to caught the attention of gamers. For this year E3 were no exception. In order to make the right decision, let us see what does Microsoft and Sony had in store for us.

Xbox One
Xbox One features an 8-cores x86 CPU AMD Jaguar core processor with 1.6 GHz CPU frequency. It also offers 768 GPU cores, 1.23 TFLOPS of peak shader throughput, 32 Mb eSRAM for embedded memory and 102 GB/s  embedded memory bandwidth. For the system memory and memory bandwidth, it features an 8GB 2133MHz DDR3 and 68.3 GB/s with 256-bits for the system memory bus. During its launch at E3, Microsoft said that it is an all-in-one consoles comprising of new generation of games and entertainment. It is a new state-of-the art gaming consoles, a new generation TV and movie system. Xbox One delivers an entertainment experience with its innovative technology is rivaled only by its iconic design. Sharp corners and clean lines make for a sleek, modern console that complements any decor. Xbox One was designed from the ground up to be the centerpiece of every living room. The console places an increasing emphasis on entertainment and integration with the Kinect peripheral, offering the ability to use an existing set-top box to watch live television programming (augmented by an enhanced program guide with support for voice commands), a built-in Skype client, and improved second screen support. The console also provides new functionality for use in games, such as an expanded Xbox Live service, improved Kinect functionality, cloud computing, the ability to automatically record and share video highlights from gameplay, and integrated support for live streaming gameplay online. PS4
Sony had launch their PS4 with a system memory and memory bandwidth of 8GB 5500MHz DDR5 and 176.0 GB/s with 256-bits for the system memory bus. Its CPU cores processor and frequency is similar to the Xbox One but different in GPU cores of 1152 and peak shader throughput of 1.84 TFLOPS. During its launched on February, Mark Cerny, Sony's lead system architect, PS4 is a platform created by game creators for game creators. Among new applications and services, Sony plans to release the PlayStation App allowing PS4 owners to turn smartphones and tablets into a second screen to enhance gameplay. The company also plans to debut Gaikai, a cloud-based gaming service that hosts downloadable content and games. By incorporating a 'share' button on the new controller and making it possible to view in-game play streamed live from friends, Sony plans to place more focus on social gameplay. Watch the PS4 full press conference at E3 2013 below.

Issues

During these platform launching, many positives, negatives as well as mixed reaction whether from the games devolopers and gamers regarding their design, software and hardware functionality, restriction on used games, backwards compatibility and connection to the internet and a a lot more issues had been discussed in gaming blogs and journals. During E3, Microsoft and Sony had answered mostly all the question and rumors during their press conference and also announcing the price for both consoles which become the turning point for gamers to choose which is better suited for them. I will discuss these issues in a later part of my review.

Making decision

Although there are many issues and rumours circulating the internet between these 2, objectively both have their advantages and weakness. For me, choosing between Xbox One and PS4, depends on your preferences. If your preferences is all about gaming, then PS4 is the right one for you. If you like series or watching your favorite movies in the living room, get the Xbox One. Both consoles have their own quality and it is up to you to manipulate the technology given to you. The power is in your hands. There is nothing wrong when choosing one consoles than the other, it's just about making a wise decision that is best and suited for you.

Next generation consoles : Offers and Challenges. A post E3 2013 review Pt. 1

The E3 at LACC
Finally after long hardwork and putting so much effort regarding the expo, I will debrief to you on what captures at E3. I've divided the review into 3 parts to better understands you on my opinion regarding the expo. For this part is going to be a bit boring so I will not make this too long for you.

Now, move on to the review. The E3 this year had had its magic and suprises and expectation were very high among the gamers and gaming media. The expo this year focused on one thing particular : the Next Generation Consoles.

Platform makers such as Microsoft and Sony had made a lot of effort in bringing their latest product of next generation. Now the question raise what defines the next generation consoles? What are the promises that it can brings you and the challenges? Needless to say that it is very hard to find to correct definition for the term. The term can be everything for every people based on their need and expectation.

Better hardware speed and graphics

For the next generation consoles to become success, they need smarter and speedier hardware with the best graphics to give satisfaction to the gamers when playing games. With the launched of Xbox One and PS4, you can expect better speed and graphics for games. Great titles had been offerred this year and I'm sure most of us will be around the house 24/7.

Better connectivity

With very wide usage of the internet, you can share every gaming moment and achievement with your friends through better connectivity. You can compete with your friends and determine who have the higher score or stats. Next gen consoles allows you to get connected with your friends anytime, anywhere.

Live up the game

With the next gen, you can engage, feel and develop your emotion with the game characters. With full capacity of the next gen, you can experience real life gaming at your home. Many developers had come out with many great titles in hope that the gamers can feel attach to the game for a long time.

However, there are challlenges that the next gen need to overcome. Several problems had been raise regarding the ability of next gen to become affordable for the gamers.

Hardware and Software market

This is without any doubt a major issues. Microsoft and Sony face this issue everytime when launching new sets of product. A thorough investigation on the hardware and software market would be necessary to ensure the product that they deliver are up to the gamers expectation.

Internet connection

This is something they have to ponder because not all people have a good internet connection and some do not have it at all. The developing and marketing team need to plan and strategise wisely in order to overcome the problem.

What's next for E3 2014??

This year E3 had been exciting to see and watch every developers putting a lot of effort to caught their customers attention and is a promising for gaming industry to be in line with the latest technology. Full of suprises and not to forget the issues and controversies surrounding the expo are what makes this year E3 an unforgetabble one. For 2014, the expectation will be higher as gamers demand better and better technolgy for gaming experience making the E3 one of the exciting event each year.

Next on my part 2 of the review we're gonna look at the latest next gen consoles at E3: the Xbox One and PS4. The pros and cons and my opinion on these two 'big guns' of Microsoft and Sony. Please leave a comment and tell me what do you think of the E3 2013.

Resident Evil 6 Aizio's Verdict

I'm sure many of the RE fans were very excited when Capcom announced the launching of next Resident Evil game.Resident Evil 6 was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 2, 2012 and later the PC version on March 22, 2013. For the ninth installment of Resident Evil franchise, Capcom tried to bring innovation to the game by introducing many new features. You can check out the official trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyoCLM6nvgM&noredirect=1

Resident Evil 6 allows players to select between three scenarios with connected storylines, each with their own intentionally different design. Each scenario follows one of three main protagonists - Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Jake Muller. The player characters from each scenario will have their own partners which are controlled by either the computer AI or another human player via local or online multiplayer. When playing in single player, the player can allow another player to join in online at any time and inventories are now kept separate from each other.A fourth scenario is unlocked after the player has finished the other three, in which the player controls Ada Wong (without a partner). The game also features the Mercenaries mode, where players fight hordes of enemies, and the Agent Hunt mode which allows players to take control of random enemies in other people's games.

Resident Evil 6 allows player to select 3 campaign scenarios; Leon, Chris and Jake
Becoming one of the anticipated game, however, doesn't give any privilleges to the developer. There were many negatives reaction to this game. Apart from the story and game play, gamers were enraged by the fact that RE becoming more and more action rather than horror. Most gamers complaint about these 2 things; GAMEPLAY and BUGS.

GAMEPLAY

Yeah, i know most of users complaint about the QTEs, scripted event, poor inventory system bla...bla...blaa. I'm going to agree with it because yeah it is poor especially the inventory system. 3 layers of inventory just to put herbs into the case! Wha...??? Why putting a lot of effort just to do a simple task? It just doesn't make sense at all. QTEs. True it is annoying but it takes time to get used to it but still need improvement there though. Camera also need to be improved.

BUGS

This is a major issues and i hope for the next installment of RE, i would not encounter it again. So many BUGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! How do you expect users to enjoy the game when there are 'sudden death' when you haven't done anything or fighting any B.O.Ws yet? This is kind of dissapointing!

The unique thing about RE6 is Story Intersections. I'm not gonna talk about Co-op campaign and graphics because it is a common features for most of the games. I'm looking for the rare ones. I choose this feature because it is quite new for me and creative innovation. All campaign intersect with each other and I think this the FIRST game i played to have this kind of feature. So far i've not encounter any games that have this kind of creativity. So much effort to make this possible.

Lastly, Resident Evil 6 is an innovation to the RE series and it has potential to become a great game but with its several drawbacks I give a score of :

7/10
*******
AVERAGE
Although average yet still fun to play and experience!
